Internship Information

Lancaster County Adult Probation and Parole Services is highly interested in providing internship opportunities to students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, criminal justice or closely related field.  We are looking for students who are not only interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice, but a career in social services. 

 

Note:  APPS only accepts internships that provide academic credit hours.
 
Internship positions are open year-round and are unpaid. Opportunities exist in all of the programs for both part-time (minimum 20 hours a week) and full-time internships for a full semester. We provide both shadowing and hands-on experience as much as possible, granting him/her the opportunity to participate in client contacts, court proceedings, treatment team meetings and agency meetings. Eligible students will be interviewed by the supervisor(s) overseeing the internship(s) for that semester. Two potential internships may be available each semester. One is under our general supervision division; the other is under our Special Supervision Division, in one of the following units: Special Offenders (individuals with mental illness/developmental disabilities); Sex Offender unit; Domestic Violence Unit; Crisis Intervention Team Training; Transfer/Electronic monitoring Unit; Assessment Unit; Treatment Courts. Student interns will need to submit to a criminal history background investigation prior to a formal offer.
